Microsoft has launched a beta program for its Copilot for Gaming experience, accessible via the Xbox app on iOS and Android devices. This AI-powered assistant aims to enhance the gaming experience by providing information and support directly to players.
Functionality and Features
Currently, Copilot answers queries related to games, offering links to additional resources and drawing on the user's account data, including play history and achievements. Players can ask questions like "What's my gamerscore?" or "Suggest a game based on my love of horror movies." The system even retrieves information about recent achievements or subscription renewal dates.
Crucially, in this initial beta phase, Copilot operates on a secondary screen, ensuring it doesn't disrupt gameplay. Responses are generated using both player activity on Xbox and public data from Bing, promising a blend of personalized and general knowledge.
Future Plans
Microsoft intends to expand Copilot's capabilities. Future updates will likely incorporate more personalized features and proactive assistance, potentially offering in-game coaching.
Beta Availability
The beta is currently available in English to users 18 and older in a wide range of countries, with further regional rollouts planned.
