Samsung eyes new wearable formats: smart glasses, earrings and necklaces
Okay, so Samsung's not stopping at just smartwatches and rings. I mean, who would, right? According to reports, they're seriously considering expanding their wearable tech to include things like smart glasses, earrings, and even necklaces. It's like they're trying to cover all the bases when it comes to tech you can wear.
Won-joon Choi, a big shot at Samsung, basically said they want you to be able to do stuff without constantly needing your phone. Think about it: glasses that give you notifications, earrings that track your activity, or a necklace that... well, I'm not entirely sure what a smart necklace would do, but I'm sure they have ideas! The core concept is devices that you wear, not carry. I think that's pretty clever!
This isn't entirely out of the blue, though. We already knew Samsung was teaming up with Google to work on smart glasses. And there were rumors floating around about them developing some fancy microdisplays for augmented reality glasses. It looks like they're really serious about getting into the AR game. I think it's an interesting move, considering the competition.
Honestly, I'm curious to see what they come up with. While smartwatches and rings have their place, these other form factors could open up some really interesting possibilities. Will we all be walking around with connected earrings in the future? Maybe not. But I definitely wouldn't count Samsung out. They're clearly thinking outside the box – or, in this case, outside the wrist!
