ChatGPT coding

My initial experience using ChatGPT for coding: a horror story with unexpected outcomes.

Technology

I remember when I first played around with ChatGPT for coding back in early 2023. Honestly, it felt a bit like wielding a cursed object from a horror story – you know, like "The Monkey's Paw". You ask for something, and yeah, you get it, but at a nasty cost.

That's how it was with ChatGPT. It'd make the change I requested, sure, but it also had a knack for messing up tons of other lines in the process. The code it spit out was usually way more complex than it needed to be, often cluttered with useless bits and pieces. While there were some good lines mixed in, sorting through the mess felt like a total waste of time.
