DJI Mic 3: A Compact Powerhouse for Multi-Person Audio Recording

Audio

So, DJI has just dropped their new flagship mic, the Mic 3, and after a week of playing around with it, I've got some thoughts. The most noticeable change? It's way smaller and lighter than the Mic 2. We're talking about a drop from 28 grams to just 16 grams! That might not sound like much, but it makes a huge difference when you're clipping it to your shirt. The rotating clip is also a nice touch, making it super easy to attach.

However, before you get too excited, there's still a rather large DJI logo plastered on the side. So, if you are like me, and want to keep things discreet, get your black tape ready.

One of the coolest upgrades is the ability to record up to four subjects at once. Think about the possibilities! Multi-person interviews, recording a band practice, you name it.

If you're thinking of picking one up, the kit with a charging case, two transmitters, and a receiver will set you back $329. Or, if you only need one transmitter, you can grab a kit for $219.

Mobile Microphones of 2025

It seems like now is a great time to compare to other brands, because the world of mobile mics has simply exploded recently! There are tons of good options out there, for all sorts of audio, whether you're recording an electric guitar, or simply doing interviews. Some of these lavalier mics are great for the versatility, while others are designed for instruments or field recording. Naturally, the thing that I care about the most is the sound quality, but there are other things to keep in mind!

YouTube TV and Fox Reach Agreement

Speaking of other news, it looks like YouTube TV subscribers aren't going to lose access to Fox content after all. Apparently, there was a bit of a standoff over money, but they've managed to reach an agreement.

Sony RX1R III Camera: A Decade in the Making

Lastly, I've got to mention the Sony RX1R III camera. While it takes absolutely stunning photos, for something that Sony took almost a decade to update and is charging $5,100 for, it feels like a missed opportunity to me, particularly when you compare it to the competiton.
