Copilot Plus PCs Get AI-Powered Live Captions on Intel and AMD
Microsoft is broadening the reach of its AI capabilities, making them accessible to all Copilot Plus PCs, regardless of whether they're powered by Intel, AMD, or Qualcomm chips. A key highlight is the expansion of Live Captions, a feature that provides real-time translation of audio into English subtitles from numerous languages.
Initially tested on Intel and AMD devices starting last December, Live Captions is now available through the latest Windows 11 update. This update also introduces Cocreator, an AI-driven tool within Paint that generates images based on textual descriptions combined with the user's drawing input. Furthermore, Microsoft is extending access to its AI-powered image editor and generator within the Photos app.
Previously, these features were exclusive to Copilot Plus PCs equipped with Qualcomm processors. While Microsoft has been testing Recall, an AI feature that captures screenshots of PC activity for easy searching, on Intel and AMD devices since last year, the widespread availability of Recall remains unconfirmed.
Voice Access Enhancements
In addition to Live Captions, Microsoft is enhancing Voice Access, an accessibility feature enabling users to control their PCs using voice commands. Qualcomm-powered Copilot Plus PCs will benefit from improved voice recognition, allowing for more natural and descriptive language. Moreover, Voice Access is gaining the ability to translate 27 languages into Simplified Chinese. Microsoft plans to extend these Voice Access improvements to Intel and AMD devices in the future.
