Apple Sued Over False Advertising of Apple Intelligence Features
Apple is facing a legal challenge in federal court regarding the advertising of its Apple Intelligence features. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in San Jose, alleges that Apple has falsely advertised the capabilities of Apple Intelligence in its iPhones and other devices.
The plaintiffs are seeking class-action status and damages for those who purchased Apple Intelligence-capable devices based on the promise of advanced AI features. According to the complaint, Apple's advertisements created the expectation that these features would be available upon the iPhone's release. However, the plaintiffs argue that the actual Apple Intelligence features offered were "significantly limited or entirely absent," misleading consumers about their utility and performance.
This lawsuit adds to the pressure on Apple as it works to deliver its highly anticipated Apple Intelligence capabilities. Recent reports suggest internal challenges, with Bloomberg reporting that Apple CEO Tim Cook has lost confidence in the leadership of AI head John Giannandrea regarding product development.
